A good elevator system is designed for permanent and long-term use; however the software and drive technology develop over time. Motors become more efficient, the control software not only allows more control and improved operating comfort, it is also possible to identify faults more specifically. The dynamic development in these fields means that, after a few years and a joint efficiency review, modernisation is a possible alternative to repairs.
Also, the operating security, as prescribed by law, must be guaranteed. This states that operators of elevator systems have a duty to bring and keep the system up-to-date. But it is not just technical aspects that speak for modernisation. Using new materials and lighting concepts increases operating convenience and can be used to adapt the system to today's quality and design standards. Also, modernisation of an elevator system may also include a reduction in the noise levels and waiting times.
